Conan is talented, funny, and hardworking, and I’m sure he’ll land on his feet. His comments show that he genuinely cared a lot about NBC and about making the Tonight Show something special.

The show ends with a full rendition of Lynyrd Skynard’s “Free Bird” featuring, the tonight show band with Conan, Beck, and Billy Gibbons on guitar, Ben Harper on lap steel, and Will Farrell on vocals.  Farrell is not going to win any singing awards, but it is fun to watch.

What did you think? Impressed by Conan’s graciousness towards NBC? Did you like his address to young people about avoiding cynicism? What did you think of Neil Young’s performance?

Peter Gabriel has begun a new album consisting of covers of various indie rock acts, including Arcade Fire’s “My Body is a Cage.” His idea is that a companion album could be made consisting of these artists covering Gabriel’s work.  The tracklist for the project aptly titled Scratch My Back is listed below:

01 “Heroes” (David Bowie)
02 “The Boy in the Bubble” (Paul Simon)
03 “Mirrorball” (Elbow)
04 “Flume” (Bon Iver)
05 “Listening Wind” (Talking Heads)
06 “The Power of the Heart” (Lou Reed)
07 “My Body Is a Cage” (Arcade Fire)
08 “The Book of Love” (The Magnetic Fields)
09 “I Think It’s Going to Rain Today” (Randy Newman)
10 “Après moi” (Regina Spektor)
11 “Philadelphia” (Neil Young)
12 “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” (Radiohead)

Visit stereogum to listen to “My Body Is a Cage.”

In case you missed it last night, Spoon’s stellar performance of their hit single “Written in Reverse.” Great NBC joke from Conan at the beginning as well.

Straight out of Brooklyn, New York, April Smith and The Great Picture Show have been added as support on the April 7th Fanfarlo date.

Tickets can be obtained by clicking here.
